The FOOD!!!

This was a school trip to Sikkim for trekking and sight-seeing. If you want to visit a place in India you should first check on Sikkim, known as the cleanest state in India with the least population. The capital Gangtok has various places and sights to see, everyday you will get inspired by something new and beautiful. The animals (especially the dogs of Yuksom were as friendly as if they are your pet) dogs, cats, mules or birds, Sikkim is home to different species of flora and fauna. Our guide was Pritam sir who helped us in our trek. He is working as the guide and is trained in this field or rather now has an expertise in trekking. While talking to him, we came to know that he goes for trekking almost 30 times in a year! And now he is planning on his retirement from this treacherous job. We covered 5km on the first day and while returning back on the 5th day we covered 25km! It took us two days to climb up but only one day to descend downhill! The most interesting part is the weather; cold every time especially when the place is covered in snow! At night the temperatures dropped to -10 degree Celsius! The language people (the Sherpa's) speak over there is Sikkimese (by saying "khushu-zongu" is how they greet each other) but people also know Hindi. For all the shopaholic people, Gangtok is the ultimate destination for winter-shopping. The specialty of Sikkim is momos and rolls, you should try it once (eating hot momo's in the cool weather gives you the best feeling)! If you are crazy enough you can try eating ice-cream in Sikkim, that may give you some delight but it will surely give you cold or a migraine! SEE YOU IN SIKKIM SOON... :) (THANKS TO GUNJAN AND MAAHIR FOR THE PHOTOGRAPHS...)

The Eastern beauty of India lies in Sikkim. From the strict airport checking at the military base airport in Bagdogra to the cleanliness of Gangtok. Sikkim enchants a person the way chocolates do to children! It is HEAVEN on Earth and also known as the Switzerland of India. The temperatures may be as cool as the people of Sikkim(metaphoric and literally)! But at the end we all learn something new everyday and your visit to Sikkim will strengthen your bond with mother nature. So Pack Your Bags... (PS- you will also get ample amount of time for contemplating on your life.)
