The sudden trip

Tripoto
15th Oct 2019

On 15th May, me and my friend made a sudden plan for a ride. I was at guwahati at that time. So we planned to visit Umium lake, Shillong, as it's quiet near and we can return within the same day itself. We began our trip at around 9a.m. Our trip was by bike but you can also get local vehicles from the city. It takes almost 2 hrs to reach Umium from guwahati. As you start the ride you start to get into higher altitudes, the breeze becomes soothing and the panoramic views please your eyes.
We took a break at Nongpoh as our tummy was fierced. You can get many hotels where you can avail the local food. If you are a pure vegetarian then you don't need to worry about it cause there is also a hotel named Jiva which is meant for vegetarian.
From Nongpoh it took us around 45mins to reach Umium Lake. Umium Lake is also known as Barapani Lake. It is basically a reservoir, which is 15kms north of Shillong. In the early 1960s it was created by damming the Umium river. It is one of the best tourist attraction in Meghalaya and also in North East India. The famous Autumn festival of Meghalaya is also conducted at Umium lake. It attracts people for its natural beauty, the freshness of the place and yes the boating, watersports which I cannot miss to mention. In 2019 the Autumn festival is going to be held on 26th and 27th Oct, many activities will be conducted including music bands, water sports and games for children as well so guys whoever is planning for a trip you do can visit Umium Lake this time.

And the ride began
