The Tranquil Kerela

The trip to Kerela makes one wonder in awe for the proximity to nature. The tour started with arriving Cochin. The large metropolitan city has everything what one is looking for. The quaint walk along the Marine Drive, the little cafe's in Fort Cochin and the refreshing Coconut Water is what one aims for. The Fort Cochin was a quaint little town on its own with cafe's, art cafe's, heritage hotels, local shopping and many more by the sea side. September being the lean period of travel, the place was quiet and peaceful.

Later we moved on to Munnar, and I must admit the lovely scenic drive it offers. The roads were flawlessly clean and the cold mountain breeze was one thing which lifted our spirits. Our stay was in Blackberry Hill Resort nestled in one quaint corner of Munnar and has independent cottages. The lovely organic resort had one of the most mindblowing beauties of Munnar. Eravikulam National Park and Tea Gardens add to the beauty of Kerela.

Further our drive to Thekkady, we were welcomed by numerous waterfalls on the way and our driver made sure that we have a special picture with each waterfall. We later passed on through thick forests and spice gardens. Our lovely visit to Spice Garden ensured that how well we were unaware with the spices and natural herbs of our country. The lovely tea garden made our sense of smell to another level bringing us more closer to nature. Later upon arrival to hotel and resting, we moved to the local spice market of Thekkady to buy the local spices. This was followed by Marshall Arts Show and Kathakali Dance Performance which was way too mesmerising.

Our final halt was Kumarakom. The paradise in Kerela. Our stay was in Backwater by Ripples which was one beautiful property. Set against the backwaters of Kerela, we sure had the most visualising experience. The lotus blooming, the lake ride and the experience was phenomenal.

In wholesome, Kerela is one place for complete mental peace and the beauty to be admired.
