The village in the glaciers – Muddh

Tripoto

After having traveled all over Spiti valley, the cold beautiful desert, we headed up to Pin valley. The home to snow leopards (though we were lucky enough to have already seen a snow leopard that jumped right in front of our bus way down in Sangla valley).
We boarded a bus from Kaza, the major bus station from Spiti. Only one bus leaves in a day towards Pin Valley. We boarded that in time but it broke down on the way. As they tried fixing it, we sat by the riverside with nobody in the horizons. It was only us and the broken down bus with it's passengers. After we realised that the bird couldn't be repaired and we were stranded, God knows where, a mighty sumo came into view. Being everybody's only option, 20 people boarded that car. Fifteen inside and we 5 on the roof. It was a beautiful and extremely jerky safari rides with foxes and herds of yaks watching us as the car trotted along the broken paths. The river on one side and mighty mountains on every side with the sun from above setting peacefully in between them, retiring for the night. The sumo dropped us to a village far away from our destination. After having enormous samosas and lots of tea, we paid and convinced some locals to take us up to the village, Muddh. The way was sloshed with water and stones (still not open for tourists) as the glaciers had just started melting to flow into the pin river. We went through ice walls. Once the snow retreated on our side, we were left astounded at the view that opened up for us. As the car stopped to let us down we couldn't look away from the sight before us for a good ten minutes and then we simply started screaming. It was unbelievableWords can't do any justice to that place so I'll just stop here and allow thev pictures to give you a better idea.
