I had two choices placed in front of me. Either attend the Mercedes Benz Classic Car rally on Sunday morning or explore the forest wilderness .Both had its own charm &, challenges and of course the hidden adventure waiting alongside to be discovered.

The engines would roar louder at the flag off session OR the walk through the jungle where the wild insects chases you, the sun follows you like a lodestar, the tangled trees traps you evoking the unadulterated fear.

The question was “Do you want play safe?” Or do you want to take a risk?

The beauty or the beast?

And the voice whispered “Let’s take road less traveled”.

Thus the journey through the forest wilderness begins!

If you have one day and the adrenaline rush is kicking in then splash into the water and gear up for some fun filled activities.

Gather a group a four friends and head into the wilderness because nature is waiting for you to explore the unexplored.Turquoise colored water pond surrounded by a lush green forest, the crisp morning sunlight and a fishing lake are the incentives for the natures lovers.A dip into the pond promises you to be the perfect start to your journey.

Located inside the forest near a small village called “Bhira” in Maharashtra is a beautiful waterfall falling in deep pond “Devkund”- The bathtub of Gods and Goddesses”.

The story of “Devkund” is quite interesting. As told by the localite that the two backpackers reached top of the rocky mountain and lost their way back, watching down from the top they found a pond (Devkund) where a fisherman was fishing. Somehow they managed to descend from the rocky mountain with the help of a rope falling into the pond and the fisherman helped them find their way back through the dense forest thus unveiling this natural pond.

Well, it is rightly said that interesting places are found accidentally.

A place to be when you want to be away from the hectic urban life and enfolding yourself in the natures arm. Environment which is truly cool and calm with absolutely clean and ice cold water to enjoy bathing in open space. Not much of a regular visitors out there as it is one of those waterfalls and a natural pond still relatively untouched by stores, restaurants and people.

So cherish every moment of your journey that will bring you closer to the nature and nourish your body, mind and soul in equal measures.

Something about water is so addictive

How to get there??

From Mumbai- Travel from the Mumbai-Pune highway and take a turn at Pali and inquire for Bhira village, the famous TATA Power House is located at Bhira village as well. You can locate “Patnus” on the google map and ask the localites for Bhira Dam and you reach your destination.

Or board a train from Dadar to Khopoli/ Karjat and then hire a car or rickshaw till the Bhira village.

From Pune- Come via “Tamhini Ghat” and locate “Patnus”. If still you can’t locate this place then write back to me I’ll help you find this beautiful place.

Till then Keep Smiling, Keep Exploring !!!
