The Taj Lake palace was earlier called the Jat Niwas where Maharana Jagat Singh II of Udaipur used to spend moonlight picnics with the ladies, it was his own pleasure palace. This was restored after to its original glory & became world renowned. It became so famous that a James Bond film, Octopussy was filmed here. Its location in the middle of the lake offers some breathtaking views from the room of the Aravalli Hills, Jag Mandir & City Palace. Unclear

By air: You can reach Udaipur by air, they have their own Maharana Pratap Airport, 22 km away from the city.

By train: Udaipur has its own railway station, Rana Pratap Nagar railway station, which is connected to major cities like Ahmedabad, Ajmer etc.
