So with temperatures rising the Bulgaria summer has now arrived and I take a look at my top 10 activities to do in Bansko; albeit little later than most years. Keep an eye on the weather, as there still will be some rain showers.

1.  Mountain hiking
Bansko is not Bansko without the Pirin mountains. Take the gondola lift and walk up to Vihren hut or drive up and park and start you hike up to the lakes. Take a picnic and enjoy the stunning scenery. Or take the lift above Dobrinishte and hike Bezbog region. Hiking tours €30 per person.

2.  Rila Monastery
Allow a full day to make the most. This tour is in the top 3 sights to see in the whole of Bulgaria and should not be missed. €30 per person.

3.  Belitsa Bear Park
Hire a car in Bansko €30. Spend the day in this most special of areas. The bumpy drive is worth it. Nice place to have lunch and soak up the views. Your children will thank you for this one

4.  Horse back riding
A perfect family activity. Lap up the views in this peaceful setting. €25 per person for one hour. €40 per person for two hours.

5.  Leschten and Kovachevitsa tour
Always popular for experiencing authentic rural beautifully preserved villages €35 per person.

6.  Melnik wine tour
This ever popular tour is one of my personal favourites trips from Bansko. Because not only is the wine tasting good fun, but the sandstone geographical formations around this village are simply stunning. Almost unwordly. All the family will enjoy this one. €35 per person.

7. Mountain bike tour
Many options for both MTB and road biking. Tours from €50 depending on length and numbers. Bike hire available.

8.   White water Rafting
Always a favourite. This year with the late rain this will be good until early August. All equipment supplied and safety instruction and guide.

9.  Plovdiv tour
Whilst it’s a journey away (say 2.5 hours). This is both mine and Jonathan Allen’s favourite city. I spend a lot of time here due to family and never tire of the place. So much to see. Great events in Roman amphitheatre. €price depends on schedule and vehicle size. Or hire a car.

10.  Attend an event
Last, but certainly not least, is be sure to attend an event.
