Karkala pristine town situated about 35 Kms from Udupi. The place is engulfed by verdant coconut and paddy fields. In between stands a colossal of Lord bahubali ( Gommateshwara) .The statue is around 45 feet tall erected by jain king in 1432 in the memory of bahubali. The statue faces another mind blowing architecture marvel "Chaturmuka basadi "Basadi( worshipping place of jains) is perched on huge granite outcrop. The basadi is well known for its architecture, which having 4 directional entrance and sacred sanctum.
