Alamut valley by its own has a lot to explore. It seems as a zone trapped among the mountains of Alborz Range. People are far from modern city lives and are more than happy to live on their own farming. Likewise, the tourists seem to be still a quite new phenomenon, human beings who have different color skin and speak another language!
The houses in mountains are mostly mud-brick and woods. During Summer time, normally there is no air conditioner and during winters , they use kerosine for cooking and heating up the house. But the natural gas is also reaching the mountains. Some of the houses are also ready to receive tourists.
When trekking in Alamut mountains, you will most probably get invited by some local farmers or shepherds to have a simple food and some tea. They are more than happy to have a companion in the middle of nowhere, talking Farsi to them and wishing the tourists know Farsi ???? ! They always ask about tourists nationality, their motivation to visit Iran and Alamut and finally to swap names of some famous football players from the country of the tourists.
If it is the season of Cherries (June - July) or the season of Walnuts (September - October), you will get offered some by the locals.
You will get the chance to see some wild animals like snakes, eagles, wild goats, deer, foxes and so on.
As you trek to ups and downs of mountains and hills, you pass some very green areas and some deserted ones. Then suddenly there is natural spring or a waterfall like this in the middle of nowhere!
If you seemingly have the least tendency toward nature, village life, wild life, mountains, canyons and everything related, do not hesitate to take you walking shoes and walking sticks and have a day or some days away from city sightseeing and go to Alamut valley; where Nature Embraces History!
