Tourists who are on a trip of Hampi can visit to visit Virupaksha Temple. This temple is devoted to God Lord Shiva who knows here in the form of Virupaksha and companion Goddess Pampa. The most awe inspirational feature of this temple is 50 meter high gopuram, Virupaksha Temple is located amongst the ruins at Hampi. Hampi is approx 12kms from the Hospet town in Karnataka State. Hospet is approx 419 km from Bangalore city by train. This temple was built in 1510 AD by Krishnadevarya reflecting the South-Indian Dravidian architectural style and is made using mortar and brick.

This temple is also known as the Panpapti Temple. This holy place has a sanctum, Mukha Mantapa (Ranga Mandapam), which has three chambers and a pillared hall. After the visiting Virupaksha Temple, tourists will know that this temple was contracted in the 7th century and has carvings was made among 9th and 11th centuries.

Firstly, this temple enshrines only a few gods statue, but over time it has developed into a huge temple. Temple lamp posts, kitchen, towers and some other shrines were built later. The main attractions of the this Temple are outstanding carvings of animals and paintings describing Hindu myths.

Entry ticket (Rs5) Per Person, Camera Charge (Rs50) and pay the video camera fee (Rs 500)
