Visiting Pune for no reason

Osho Garden

For obvious reasons I had planned for the budget trip to Pune. I had booked a return flight ticket from Bangalore at an exortiate rate of 4000 Rupees. This amount is half of what I spent for the trip.

My flight made a landing at 1:30 am but I decided to stay overnight at the airport. If I go to hostel I had to pay for 1 extra night. I stayed at the *not silent* airport for next 5 hours. As per the research I had done it was time to go to the Osho Garden at Koregaon Park which opens at 6:30 am.

Day 1

The stroll inside the Garden was refreshing. The dew had marked their presence on all the leaves and grass of the park. I couldn't capture photos as it is not allowed inside.

From there I went to try my luck on early availability of the dorm. Without finding any luck I decided to get a motor bike so that I could roam in the city. Unable to find SK Tours and Travels (finding it closed) I took an Ola Auto to the Aga Khan Palace. Thankfully, Ola Auto are easily available in Pune and at very less charge.

Aga Khan palace is historic considering here Gandhiji was put up by the Britishers and here Kasturba passed away. The ashes of them are also present here.

From there I found out about the startup Snapbikes which was in Koregaon Park and they provide bikes on rent. I got a Bajaj Discover which was faulty in terms of self-start and the horn wouldn't work occasionally. There rules allowed me return the bike by 7pm next day.

On that day later, I visited Shaniwar Wada which I didn't enjoy personally. The reason could be the crowd.

After that I headed back to hostel. There I found some people who wanted to get some beer. We went to Murphies on lane 6 and from there tried our luck at Agent Jack. Agent Jack doesn't allow stag entry and thus we crawled back to hostel.

Next day I woke up late and planned to visit ISKON Temple and Pu-La garden. However when I reached both the place, both of them were closed. I headed back to hostel and spent my time with the hostelmates.

Later in the evening we went to Irish Cafe for dinner which was okayish.

I loved the Sandwich shop outside the Pizzahut shop on the streets of Lane 5.

Punekars, what do you think? Which places I missed out?

Tips:

1. Google Maps have wrong opening and closing times

2. Roads are confusing in Pune (Bangaloreans, second to you)

3. Ola Auto is cheap than renting the bike

4. For hostel booking, check out Goibibo and just not booking.com
