#Ondhu Masale (Kannada phrase) which means One Masale Dosa typically said by the service guys to prepare dosa for the customers when they take orders. A hot Masala Dosa with a blob of white butter on its top is always highly attractive and tempting. Here is one such popular restaurant named "Central Tiffin Room or CTR or Shri Sagar Hotel" in Bengaluru.

I was introduced to this place by my friend Vishal who kept forcing me to have breakfast in this place since months. I finally agreed and visited this place just for breakfast and worth the visit. CTR is being one of the oldest South Indian breakfast place in Bengaluru and notable for its Masala Dosas for over more than 100 years now. It is located at 7th Cross Road corner of Margosa Road, Malleshwaram, opposite to the Malleshwaram Grounds.

Apart from the Dosas, CTR is also known for its Idly-Vada, Poori-Saagu, Kharabath, Kesaribath, Mangalore Bajji , Maddur Vada and filter coffee. It has won awards including the Times Food Guide "Best Benne Masala Dosa in Bengaluru" and Burrp.com's "Best Benne Masala in Bengaluru". The restaurant was renovated recently to add more capacity.

Best Dosa I ever had in my life. The crispness and the softness inside is a very rare combination of a dosa layer, needs a must visit to experience it. If there is one place in Bengaluru you just have to visit for dosa, it's CTR! This place has been thriving for years and shows no signs of slowing down! So if you do go to this side of town, step in and don't grudge the wait, believe me, it's worth it.

This hotel was started by Y.V. Subramanyam and brothers whose residents are Ashtagrama Iyers of Tamil origin. It is recorded that during the visit by the Maharaja of Mysore, Y.V. Subramanyam supplied and served breakfast in traditional attire. This was a famous meeting place for writers and artists in the 1940s and 1950s, and its name is mentioned in many books and articles. It is said the brothers passed on tips about preparations to the new owners along with advice to take care of workers by not overburdening them.

It was then established as Shree Sagar and the management was passed on to Ramakrishna Holla later. It was bought by Sanjeeva S Poojari in 1992 and was renamed Shri Sagar formally known as Central Tiffin Room (CTR). Shri Sagar serves only vegetarian food and is crowded for most of its operating hours. Just be there before opening hours or be prepared to wait - Highly recommended !!! It is surely worth a try when in Bangalore as this is one of the oldest restaurants and we all would get a different feeling once entered here.
