Yes, you heard that right. Coorg, Karnataka is referred to as the Scotland of India. One of the best place to enjoy the weekend in the lap of nature. We went to Coorg and Madikeri last year during monsoon so couldn't take many pictures (no waterproof camera :p), but it is one the most memorable trips of mine. To reach to the highest point (Tadiandamol Hills) in Coorg, you need to book a jeep and it's the best choice because the roads are not that good which may damage your vehicle and the drivers there are experienced. You can do trekking (30 minutes-1 hour) after reaching the highest point. Stay at a resort in between jungles to get the best of your trip. Enjoy bonfire during the night. If you're a non-vegetarian, don't forget to taste the special food (pork) of Coorg.
Places to Enjoy
Raja's Seat in Madikeri is another place where you can enjoy the beautiful sceneries. On the way to Bangalore, you can visit bamboo forest (Nisargadhama forest), like the one you see in movies. You can find deer inside the bamboo jungle, walking between the bamboos feel very nice. Also, you can enjoy adventures like zip line, mirror mage, and bull balancing. Unfortunately, we couldn't visit the elephant camp to reach there one needs to cross the river and since there was heavy rainfall at the time we went and the river current was very high. Home to over 5000 monks, Tibetan Monastery is the largest teaching center of Tibetan Buddhism and is a must go-to place.
How to Reach?
It takes around 6-7 hours from Bangalore to reach Coorg by road. You can either book through a travel agent or go on your own.
