The ancient city of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka is one of the most historically intriguing places to visit while on the island. Check out the quick guide below to make the most of your trip.
How to Get There
If you're the adventurous type then board a bus or a train leaving the Colombo Fort every hour. Polonnaruwa is located only two hours away from Sigiriya and four hours from Kandy if you're making your way from there. The journey can prove to be quite long in which case hiring a private vehicle is the best thing to do.
How to Get Around
If you do not have your own vehicle, there are plenty of Tuk- Tuks, the preferred mode of cheap and convenient transport in Sri Lanka to take you around. Often the drivers will act as tour guide too for a small fee. For the sporty types, bike rentals are available, for just 250 rupees for a day.
