It was On Christmas eve, when i decided to take my first ever solo trip to Kasol on January 26,2017. An average guy working 24*7 in a corporate wanting to check his limits, it was daunting as it is. I had booked my Hostel near kasol (approx. 4kms trek) and had visited Kasol & Kalga twice before but this time it was all new to me.
It was in Rasol when I decided to park myself in the lap of Parvati Valley around 9PM when it was pitch dark and the crowd had head back to their abodes. I was calmly enjoying the music of river flowing and was writing my own journal. I decided to spend my night there even though it was -5 degrees and i did not have sufficient clothes on. My hostel was nearby but still wanted to feel the thrill. Around 4am I woke up and I just realised that I don’t need anyone or anything to travel with, no company, no friends, no camera, no money, no hotel/hostel, no plan - It was all on me, I was the one who can and will make my own plan. I don’t need shelter to be warm and safe, I started believing in nature and warmth of it. I started realising that people can be materialistic, they won’t understand how it feels to sit under the stars all alone freezing and doing nothing in the middle of the night. No social media platforms can actually showcase what you have experienced. No love or lust can replace this big smile that I had on my face. I was a different man altogether. A new identity. Different perception towards life. I started taking more and more trips, spending each of my earnings only on it. It’s clear and simple - You are what you are, you will be what you really want to be!
