The humbling Chinese Fishing Net is more than just the quintessential postcard shot captured for a memory that's worth a dollar a piece. There are tales of many times and many lives captured between these dainty threads that hold this glorious masterpiece together. From the times when the Chinese first built these marvels here, to today, the nets have been witeness to changing seasons, centuries and people.
From behind it peeps a familiar face of metal and sheet, reminding me of waves that clashed the shores and brought friends on humongus ships or boats, like petit quinelles of wood. They bought to our shore treasures, stories and people with hearts of gold, who now call Kochi, their home.
