Once in a while we all need a escape from reality ,our daily routine our 9 to 5 jobs , our life which gets boring by same repeated routine.yes this trek to sandakphu provided this escape ,chance to hit refresh buttons ,providing with new energy and enthusiasm to carry on our work.

First of all little briefing about small town of sandakphu.

It is a small town on indo nepal border at an altitude of about 12000 ft (OMG we have trekked to a height about half of the mighty himalayas.) which is the highest point of sanglila mountain range .

The journey started as our train reached Newjalpaigudi station where we were received by our host.Next we headed to Darjilling on our vehicles.

The terrain changed from plains to more greener and mountaineous landscape oak trees and tea gardens flanked on both sides of roads.Drive from NJP to darjilling are filled with many eye catching scenery.

Hear in Darjilling we stayed at Anutri hotels and resorts which is located just abive batasia loop and gives amazing view of the famous toy train of darjilling .

After settling in and refreshment we straight away headed for main market of darjilling "The chaurasta" enjoyed local delicacies momo and some others

Next day was when the real trekking started .After having a nice breakfast we left the hotel at 8 am and reached Maneybhanjan and further to Dhotrey from where our trek was going to start.

By the time we reached sandaphu it was dark sun had set.Reaching sandakphu at that moment felt like winning a marathon tiny droplets of sweat comming out in that chilling winter left our faces filled with smiles.Shouting and running we reached our hotel where warm soup and fire in middle of hall greeted us which brought a great relief to all of us.

At Dhotry our teams got decided and each team was given a travel guide who would be assisting us for rest of our treks.Hear we got prepared with minor checkups and starded our trek to Tonglu which is at a height of 3070 mts. the trek from Dhotrey to tonglu is about & kms steep uphill trek through tarred and uneven terrain. At tumling we stopped for tea and snacks.By the time we startend the next leg of trip for the day towards Tumling it was 3 pm.

Tumling is a tiny village at a height of 9600 ft .enroute tumling we enjoyed some magnificient view of mountain ranges.Clouds added a new dimention to the mountains beauty of which is hard to describe with words.Clouds running past our cheeks giving a chilling sensation anf filling our hearts with fresh energy that t0ok us to tumling without being exhausted.

At tumling we settled at shikhar lodge .By the time we reached hear sun had went down and temperature dropped ,we started feeling cold. But fire at the lodge along with hot tea brought a great amount af relief along with smile. All team members sitting around the fire talking and enjoying sharing our expiriences .

Now as the Night came we all had a magnificient view of the sky.We hadn't seen the sky more clearer and brighter in our life.Pindrop silence with amazing night sky soaked in our thougts is a expierience we all must have it makes us realise we are part of God's amazing creation.Thanking god for this wonderful day we slipped into our cozy blankets and fell asleep imediately.

Day 3

We all woke up early to witness the fantastic view of kunchunjanga.we got lucky as weather was clear allowing us to witness clear view of other peaks too i.e mt.pandim,mt makalu which along with mt kunchunjunga formed the famous shape of sleepin buddha.

After having breakfast we started our trek to garibas. The distance from Tumling to garibas is about 12 kms.we took the diversion continued our trek through nepal side .The trail goes through a thick forest of rodedendrons. The beauty of forest left us mesmerised. We reached Sanglila National park checkost by 10:30 am.We stopped here for lunch and continued our 4km trek to kali pokhri which was relatevely easy as track was not so steep. Here we found why the name kalipokri was used as a large black coloured pond was present here.we had our lunch here and continued our trek to bikhebhanjanwhich happens to be at height of 3280 mts and 2kms from kalipokhri.

From hear toughest part of the trek wa sgoing to start which would lead to sandakphu.whilst most of the people had opted for vehicle our team decided to take up this trek which happens to be 10 km of very steep climp through dense forest and mountains.

Later we didnt regret our decisions as the view that greated us along the trek was just ming blowing and out of this world.we could easily see the clouds that lie below us forming a fluffy layer below us and the sky above the clods so clear yes we can say we were walking above the clouds.

Climbing through the mountains with chirping of birds and leaves flattering air gushing past us all creating a music never got us tired .Occasionaly whenever we got tired our enthusiastic team mates cracked jokes and told us stories .we passed through mountain cliffs where we would shout our hearts out.
