Day 1

Hike to Mt. Thielsen! Being rated "Hard" on AllTrails app, this hike will make you feel " Why! Why I came on this one!"
Mount Thielsen, or Big Cowhorn, is an extinct shield volcano in the Oregon High Cascades, near Mount Bailey. Because eruptive activity ceased 250,000 years ago, glaciers have heavily eroded the volcano's structure, creating precipitous slopes and a horn-like peak.

After like 3.5 miles at the intersection of the Pacific Crest Trail, there is no defined path. All rocks, rubble and loose sand. Sharp, edgy rocks, loose boulders, and extreme heat also joined the party after a while. You can also constantly see the Diamond lake on your back which was kind of mesimerizing. The distant snow covered south sisters were also an eye candy. Reaching to the top is also a bit trickier. You have to actually climb a wall of rocks. The view at the top was awesome which could not be seen in the pictures as there was empty grounds till the horizon.
The trail in itself is beautiful with lots of logs blocking your path and you have to decide, over or under? 🤔
It is suggested to start at around 6 am as the hike back down in the scorching heat will make you dizzy for sure. Carry a lot of water and for me Gatorade helped a lot.
