Brahmatal is a high-altitude glacial lake in the Uttarakhand state of India, situated at the elevation of 12100 ft. This is one of the few winter treks that can be done in December to February.
Brahmatal lake is one easy trek to forget you about tedious daily lives. Brahmatal trek equally enchants beginner as well as the experienced. The amount of snow on the trek makes trekking a little challenging for the trekkers but as compared to other winter treks it is the easiest snow trek in India.
In mythology, Brahmatal lake is known for Lord Brahma, who is said to have meditated here once. En route this trek, you’ll find many mind blowing snow covered landscapes stretching far into the forest and these frames keep changing as one progresses into the trek. In winters, Brahmatal lake gets completely frozen, which is an amazing sight for snow lovers. From the summit, one gets a spectacularly close view of Mount Trishul and Nandaghunti standing against you in all their glory.

- KATHGODAM TO LOHAJUNG (7,611 feet, 210 Km / 10 Hours)
- Arrive early morning at Kathgodam railway station and drive to Lohajung (transportation included) which will take approximately 9 to 10 hours. Breakfast and Lunch will be on the way at a roadside inn, exclusive of charges. The route passes through many beautiful hill stations like Bhimtal, Almora and Kausani. You drive alongside local rivers and get views of many peaks like Kamet, Nanda Ghunti, Trishul, and Nanda Devi among others. Arrive at your base camp, Lohajung by the evening. It is a small town with very basic facilities available.
- Halt at the Guest house/lodge- dormitory in Lohajung.
- Dinner at Lohajung.
- A quick introduction with team members and fellow trekkers at the guest house.
- Day 2- LOHAJUNG TO BEKALTAL (7,611 – 9,875 ft. 6KM):
- Today our trek begins from Lohajung and we will move upwards to the Bekaltal passing through a few villages, thick oak and rhododendron forests, water streams, bridges etc.. Today’s trek will take around 05 hours to reach our campsite. The whole area gets covered in snow in winters, and the lake will be found partially frozen. Approximately at 8,500 ft., you will find a bridge of 10 meter known as Link-gaad to help you cross the stream. After two hours of trek, you will reach Begum top which has splendid views of Navali Bugyal and Bagdi Bugyal.
- Arrival at the campsite. Hot lunch at the campsite.
- Evening walk around the campsite.
- Evening refreshments and snacks followed by dinner at the campsite.
- Day 3- BEKALTAL TO BRAHMATAL (9,875 – 10,500 ft. 7KM):
- Today our trek will start with Initial steep climb for an hour, which opens out to a meadow (today’s highest point 11,500 ft) from where begins a slow descent to Brahmatal. Due to snow it might take longer to reach the destination.
- Arrival at the campsite followed by lunch and rest.
- Evening walk and refreshment.
- Dinner and overnight stay at the camps.
- Day 4- BRAHMATAL TO BRAHMATAL PEAK AND BACK (10,500 – 12,100 ft.):
- Today we will climb Brahmatal Peak and will return back to the campsite at Brahmatal. The time taken to reach the summit is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. As you reach the summit, an entire panorama of mountains opens up offering splendid views of the mighty Himalayas especially Chaukhambha, Mandir, Mana, Nilgiri, Neelkanth, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Maiktoli and mountains stretching all the way to the Panchachuli range.
- Rest and have packed lunch at the Summit point.
- Arrival at the campsite followed by evening refreshments.
- Dinner and stay at the camps.
- Day 5– BRAHMATAL TO LOHAJUNG VIA DALDUM (10,500 – 7,611 ft. 9KM):
- Today we will descend back to Lohajung through the different forested trails passing by several mountain villages on the slopes which will take time around 6-7 hours. Descend will take less time and the day is not that exhaustive. We return back to Lohajung and have plenty of time and energy to share photographs among the group and celebrate our amazing trek. Overnight stay at Lohajung.
- Dinner at Lohajung
- Day 6- Return LOHAJUNG TO KATHGODAM.
- After breakfast return to Kathgodam with beautiful memories of your trip.
- Breakfast at Lohajung.
- Meals as per trek plan (Veg Only- Breakfast, Lunch, Evening Snacks and Dinner)
- Tents(Triple/Double Sharing), Sleeping Bags, Sleeping Mats
- Forest permits and camping fee
- Professional Trek Leader, Cook, Guide and Support staff
- Trekking equipment, Gators, Snow Grips/Micro Crampons for winter treks (if necessary)
- Medical Amenities – First Aid Kits, Oximeter, oxygen cylinders.
- Transport from Kathgodam to Kathgodam
- Any kind of personal expenses on the trek
- Meals during road journeys
- Mules or porter to carry personal luggage

- NOTE: If you don't want to carry your backpack you can give it to porter/Mules, but you have to inform us in advance and have to pay Rs. 1200/- extra per bag for the whole trek.
The final pricing will be applicable, based on the rate of exchange (ROE) valid at the time of confirmation of the booking. This price is based on the current rate of exchange.
No refund for unutilized services.
If the guest wishes to change itinerary or places after booking a package, you are required to pay the price difference.
The guests are requested to follow the rules and regulations of the guide.
Sometimes due to unforeseen situations a need may arise for us to make slight changes to tour itinerary; guests are requested to cooperate with us.
In the unlikely event of reserved accommodation not available for you upon arrival at your destination, we would immediately arrange for an alternate accommodation of the same standards.
Strictly NO Refund for un-utilized services once booking made confirmed.
No amendment( date changes, plan change etc) will be done once the booking is guaranteed.
We shall have no legal liability for any loss, damage, personal injury arising directly or indirectly from any aspect of your Holiday.
The guest booking our services is expected to provide a valid identity authenticating the person and you shall not make a reservation in a fictitious name.
Showing around all the places mentioned in our packages depend upon the availability of time and climatic conditions.
In the unfortunate event of vehicle breakdown, we will provide you alternate vehicle. However, the time loss due to event will not be compensated.
Offer is given to you on a special deal valid for a limited period of time.
Above rates quoted based on the group size and should the no. of pax decrease, we have the right to revise the package rate without prior notice.
Case 1: If the trek is cancelled by The Insight Trips
(a) In case the trek is cancelled by us due to any
unavoidable Circumstances like Bharat bandh, Road block, natural
calamity, landslides etc we will provide a trek Coupon where you can
opt for the same trek or a different for a period of one year. in case
you want to change the trek the amount you paid will be deducted if
the new trek cost is greater then the cancelled trek and if the new
trek cost is less the remaining amount will be refunded.
(b) In Case of Booking of less than 3 members and the trek is
cancelled due to no further trekker available, the customer will get full
refund and will get a discount coupon of 10% having validity for a
year 2021
Case 2 : If the trek is cancelled by the customer
(a) If the trek is cancelled by the customer prior to 45 days of booking
date - 100 % of the total trek fee will be refunded i.e. no cancellation
Fees.
(b) If the trek is cancelled by the customer between 30-45 days of
booking date - 70 % of the total trek fee will be refunded.
(c) If the trek is cancelled by the customer between 15-30 days of
booking date - 50 % of the total trek fee will be refunded.
(d) If the trek is cancelled by the customer between 1-15 days of
booking date - No Amount will be refunded.
