Lansdowne is one of the most popular hill station of Uttarakhand. It's a cantonment town which was founded by Lord Dalhousie, Viceroy of India in 1887. During British period, this place was used as a Recruits Training center of the Garwhal Rifles. Now, the command office of Garhwal Rifles of the Indian Army is based here.

Lansdowne is well connected with roads. The view of the mountains and the roads among the alpine forest leave a perennial impact on the traveler. The environment is immaculate. The place offers a serene atmosphere and it is a perfect weekend getaway from all the hustle and bustle of the city. October is the best time to visit the place. One could hear the chirping of the birds from the hotel room. Lansdowne offers many tourist attractions which can be enjoyed by a wanderer who likes to get lost among the hills, engrossing the beauty of the nature and capturing the beauty through the lens.

The place offers a breathtaking view of the hills. If you like long walks, then prefer walking to this place as it's only 3 km away from Gandhi Chowk.

This place is famous because of its big stone which is positioned on another rock. The stone shakes but it doesn't fall.
