The Bara Imambara located in Lucknow is one of the major historical sites here, it is a symbol of the culture and rich heritage of the city. It was built by Asaf-ud-Daula, the Nawab of the Awadh region. It is also called the Asafi Imambara for the tomb of the Nawab and the Labyrinth because of the confusing paths. The architecture of the Bara Imambara, located on the banks of the Gomti River, displays typical Mughal style and is very similar to the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Pakistan, and is also considered the fifth largest mosque in the world.
