Greece Highlights

Athens is among the top places to include in your itinerary when booking one of our Greece tour packages. The largest city in Greece and also its capital, Athens’ history dates back 7000 years. Athens is one of the world’s oldest civilisations and promises history lovers an experience of a lifetime. Said to be the cradle of western civilisation, Athens was the natural capital of erstwhile Greece. Athens is home to Acropolis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which stands tall as an example of education and democracy. There are 21 significant archaeological ruins in Acropolis and the best way to explore them is by choosing one of our Greece tour packages.

Another popular draw in Athens is Parthenon, which is a fine example of Greek architectural brilliance. The eastern side of the temple is referred to as the Erechtheum, which is dedicated to Athena and Poseidon. The south of the temple is where you will find the remains of Theatre of Dionysus. Ensure that you include a visit to Odeon of Herodes Atticus in your Greece tour packages. For history lovers and museum enthusiasts, we also recommend visiting the Acropolis Museum. The Acropolis Museum was opened for the public in 2009 and has artefacts and objects from the Greek Bronze Age. There are over 4000 objects in the museum as well as ruins of Byzantine Athens. It will take you approximately three to five hours to explore the museum and we highly recommend including a guided tour in your Greece tour packages.

If you are a history lover, you must also include a visit to the Byzantine and Christian Museum in your Greece tour packages. With more than 25,000 artefacts which can be traced back to time periods as far back as the third century, the museum is awe-inspiring for art lovers and history enthusiasts. One can explore manuscripts, paintings, fabrics, art and materials from yesteryear.

Mykonos is another beauty which should be part of your Greece tour packages. Well known for its enthralling shopping options and enviable nightlife, the island is part of the Cyclades group of islands. Striking the perfect balance between traditional and modern elements, the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos is a delight for those who enjoy an action-packed itinerary. If you have booked one of our Greece tour packages, you can expect to spend between two and three days in the crisscrossed, paved streets of this iconic centrepiece.

Hora is the capital town of Mykonos and a must-include in your itinerary when booking one of our Greece tour packages. Shaped like an amphitheatre, this beautiful city is home to heritage buildings and monuments that are a fine example of Cycladic architecture. The streets are dotted with whitewashed houses with vibrant panels and doors giving you the perfect frame for all your photographs. The idyllic town is home to the Archaeological, Folklore and Maritime museums, Panagia Paraportiani and Matoyánni Street. In fact, Matoyánni Street is a delight for shopping enthusiasts. Home to local boutiques, world-famous brands and charming cafes, this is where you can enjoy a beautiful afternoon in Greece. You can’t ignore the beautiful beaches of Mykonos either. Whether it is Elia, Platys Gialos or the beautiful Kalafatis, you will be mesmerised by the awe-inspiring beauty. If you want to enjoy the idyllic island of Mykonos, there are many sightseeing tours and heritage walks which you should include in your Greece tour packages.

Another place which features in all itineraries in Greece tour packages is Santorini. Located approximately 200 kilometres from the commercial part of Greece, the volcanic island has gradually gained prominence among travellers. Besides the sunset views, crimson-hued skies and fairytale landscape, what attracts travellers to Santorini is the holiday vibe the island promises. The black-pebble beach in Kamari is one of the busiest attractions, while the white beach and red beach are part of most Greece itineraries.

If you want to explore the brilliant architecture that Greece is known for, then you must include a visit to Pyrgos in your itinerary when choosing from our Greece tour packages. Home to a Venetian castle, old houses and Byzantine churches, the settlements of Oia, Kamari, Perissa and Therasia should also feature in your Greece tour packages. Santorini is also a favourite with couples and families owing to the luxurious resorts on the island. However, if you are travelling on a budget, you shouldn’t be disappointed since Santorini welcomes all kinds of travellers and you can always choose a stay in a hostel or budget hotel.

Santorini is famous for its beautiful architecture and beach all over the world and the island proves itself worthy.
The best part to visit Santorini is Oia Village. Athens - capital city of Greece.
Raise your hands if your love for aesthetics in never ending. Well, I’m sure most of us fall in this category. After the completion of our arrival & immigration formalities at the Athens Airport, my better half & me boarded a metro to Syntagma Square (center of Athens). Having said that, opting for a stay near Syntagma Square turned out to be the best decision one can ever make. This is simply because when you live near the center of Athens, you are typically ensuring that a majority of tourist spots are nearby. Thank us, later :P Since we heard a lot of good reviews about Airbnb rooms, we decided to book one for our 2-day stay at this gorgeous destination. So, you are in Greece. Make tryst with history. I love it, so I enjoy knowing about the past. If you don't, this is the best place to give it a try. Thessaloniki is a university town. So the vibe is chic, cool and on the go. Stay here for a couple of days. Go up (yeah literally up, as the city is uphill and downhill), and see the most amazing view from there. Roam around in chic cafes, have some amazing Greek food and enjoy the nightlife. During the day, do yourself a favour by enrolling yourself in one of the walking tours, which usually starts from Sophia Agora. Know about the Roman civilisation here, and a number of Byzantine churches. Spend the afternoon in the park alongside the White Tower.
Greece Travel Blogs

Planning an international trip comes with a fair share of struggles. From visa requirements, packing lists, hotel bookings to mapping itineraries, budgeting and figuring out transportation – if you are planning a trip to Greece, it requires time and effort. The best way to reduce your planning stress is by booking one of our Greece tour packages and of course, by referring to personal travel experiences. Nobody knows better about the best places to visit in Greece than one who has walked the streets of this gorgeous country. Here are a few excerpts from the travel diaries of some bloggers.

“The best time to visit Greece is during the summer months of June-September but it is also more expensive and extremely crowded in the Greek islands. From hotels to restaurants and cafes hike up their prices to cash in the tourist inflow. During winters, it is best to visit in November, when the weather is relatively temperate with occasional rainfall. The only downside is that the waters are not warm enough for swimming and most of the beach cafes remain shut!” – Kalyani Barman

“When visiting Greece, it is a given that you would be spending some time in Athens. The seasoned travelers however suggest that you should keep Athens to a couple of days, or 3 at the most. The real action lies outside, on the islands and other lesser known cities, and that is where you have to head if you want to fully savor the country.” – Fwteinh

“At 3pm I left to see Acropolis museum. It is very well organized museum. You can imagine the original glory as you walk along. However, if you can only visit 1 museum during your stay. I highly recommend visiting National Archaeological Museum instead. As it beholds most important artifacts from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity.” – Solo Travellers Nafeesa

Greece For Couples And Families

Greece is one of the top destinations to explore for couples. And for good reason. Who can resist picturesque sunsets, mesmerising beaches, idyllic islands and the comfort of luxury resorts? Greece is a dream destination for couples and we recommend spending at least seven to ten days in this beautiful country. You can also include a visit to Corfu Island, private beaches in Mykonos, Santorini, Milos, and Astypalaia when you book Greece packages for couple.

At the same time, you can book one of our Greece family vacation packages if you are planning a family vacation. Besides the fascinating Greek history and architecture that can be explored through its numerous monuments and museums, the country is home to numerous hiking trails, scuba diving sites, rock climbing bases and sea kayaking spots. Owing to last-minute plans, elaborate itineraries and many hotel reservations, the best way to ensure you have a comfortable, hassle-free trip is by booking one of our Greece holiday packages.

Greece Weather And Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Greece completely depends on your budget and your interests. While budget travellers prefer the shoulder season in the months of April through June to plan their travel, luxury travellers plan their trip during the peak season between July and September. The peak season in Greece sees travellers from across the world and hotels are extremely expensive. You can experience the best of the country through luxury cruises, an enthralling nightlife and memorable shopping tours. A few places might get too crowded but travellers often say that’s where the charm lies.

If you are travelling on a budget, we don’t recommend booking budget Greece tour packages during the peak season. Instead, you can plan a trip between May and October and expect to receive great deals on luxury resorts. It’s also a great time for planning sightseeing tours and hiking excursions. The weather is mild, though it may be too cold to enjoy swimming.

Even though August is the peak season in most parts of the country, Athens sees fewer tourists during this time since most restaurants and hotels are closed. If you want to explore the city on a budget, you can opt for one of our Greece tour packages during this time – but remember to make all bookings in advance.

Greece Local Cuisine

Greek food has dominated world cuisine for decades. Travellers are fascinated by the variety of flavours the local cuisine boasts and often spend the majority of their vacation exploring the different dishes the cities offer. Since Greece is along the coast, seafood is the staple ingredient.

Depending on where you are, the dishes offered change based on geography and season. The Greeks enjoy their food and eat in small portions up to five times a day. The combination of olive oil, fish, lemon, Mediterranean vegetables and a traditional way of cooking is unmatchable and you will thoroughly enjoy your meals in Greece.

Dolmades, grilled meat, courgette balls, fasolatha, koulouri, and souvlaki are some of the dishes that are served in all local restaurants and cafes. You must also try the variety of cheese in local bakeries. Served in salads and with bread, Greek cheese is popular across the world.

While booking Greece tour packages, ensure that you include a few famous restaurants in your itinerary. The best ones are Kontos in Naxos, Aiolou 68, Strofi and Lithos in Athens, Ambrosia Restaurant in Lindos, Varoulko in Piraeus, Asimenos in Skyros and Avra in Mykonos.
