People say “Caribbean” and the image, typically conjured up in any potential traveler's mind is a paradise with turquoise water breaking on a sandy beach lined with tall coconut palms. In reality, the Caribbean is 28 island nations and 7,000 islands, each offering this tropical Eden in many different forms; every island and its inhabitants possessing its own distinct charm and personality.

One of my favorite destinations is the Dominican Republic famous for its outstanding natural beauty. There are numerous highlights of this island, discovered by Christopher Columbus in 1492, including world-famous golf courses, yachting, kiting, surfing and its gourmet cigar and rum brands. Luxury Vacation Rental Destinations  Casa de Campo, Punta Cana/Cap Cana, Cabarete and Cabrera.

 A very good example how 360luxury vacation rentals are protecting the environment is Cabrera.  Maybe it’s because Cabrera has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic as well as rivers, exotic vegetation and many natural attractions including a National Park reserve  located in El Breton, a small section of Cabrera called Cabo Frances Viejo; possibly because it is host to some of the most prestigious and luxurious villas you will find anywhere in the Dominican Republic in the Orchid Bay Estates development located just outside the town, or maybe it is the genuine warmth and hospitality offered by the local inhabitants to visitors to Cabrera.

But what of the town itself?  Cabrera still remains largely untouched by “tourism” unlike the well known resorts of Sosua, Puerto Plata or Cabarete.  Virtually the only visitors to Cabrera are those staying in one of the luxury villas.  There are no “all-inclusive” hotels to be found here; the only hotel of note, La Catalina, is situated some 10 minutes or so away in the hills overlooking Cabrera and the Atlantic ocean. Vacationers here are not those looking for the raucous nightlife of typical tourist resorts but those seeking a relaxed, away from the madding crowd, style of holiday as well as an opportunity to see life in the Dominican Republic as it really is and Cabrera offers just that option.

The Cabrera region has some of the most beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic as well as rivers, mountains, exotic vegetation and many natural attractions. Located  in a small country town, Orchid Bay Oceanfront Estates has some of the most prestigious and luxurious villas in the Dominican Republic. Cabrera still remains largely untouched by “tourism”, and as such, the local residents exude the most genuine warmth and hospitality.
