Kheerganga-

How to Get There:

Take a volvo from Delhi to Bhuntar. From Bhuntar, take a local bus or taxi to Barshaini. Barshaini is the place from where your trek will start.

Barshaini, The Beginning.

Things You Should Remember:

Night trek is not possible because you will be left alone and there are no lights, except the moon and stars, to guide you through the woods and hence you need to leave early.

The trek is 15 Kms long and average human will take 4-5 hours to complete it.

The way is so beautiful that you will be compelled to stay right then and there at certain waterfalls.

The trek is challenging with the ups and easy too because of the downs.

You need good trekking shoes because there's a chance to get slipped-to-death at certain parts of the trek. Good shoes will give you the grip when you cross the river through stones and tree-trunk-bridges.

The water is said to be so pure that people drink it directly from the Parvati River and it is also said that it has some nutrients to make your body pure and healthy.

By the time we almost reached, the last two kilometers were a disaster. "The darkest hour came just before the sunrise.''

The way was much elevated and it was difficult to maintain the grip and hold our bodies alive against gravity. Because falling is not an option. Here, falling became falling to the very bottom which might kill us.

The good trekking shoes kept me easy going.

Dogs are the guide.

If you are lost on the way, the dogs will tell you the way to the top. You just have to follow them.

On the top, kheerganga welcomes travelers all over the world. You will find only tents on the top. There are no houses or civilisation.

The last one kilometer was like rock-climbing; the actual adventure.

Kheerganga Camps

When I reached the top of the mountain, I realised that its beauty lies in the fact that the place is untouched by the civilisation. The true identity was that it was all natural and people had their tents at certain distances.

I was full of excitement to see other people and groups and majority were young, of my age.

What Kheerganga Offers:

Cold-places are blessed with hot water springs for relaxation. You can stay in one such hot water pond, surrounded by huge mountain-view and peacefulness of the nature around you.

There is a Shiva Temple and 6-miles from here, there is a Kartik Gufa, where the elder son of lord shiva used to meditate.

There is a separate place for ladies to take the holy bath and there's no interference by men there.

The water is said to be sacred and holy and it has a lot of benefits which you can find out after visiting the place.

This is Encrypted in here on the outside of the temple.

I stayed there for a week in tent. Fishing and reading my novels, awaited the sun because its too cold there.

Did bonfire at night with youngsters and foreigners of different ages, who were living here in tent from 2 months and exchanged the tales of our lives. Enjoying all of it. Learning that the silence can be great and its nice to live an ancient lifestyle.

I reminded myself for applying the acquired peace in life when i get back.

Met people of my age.

It was a great experience. And words and pictures can only explain one percent of the whole trip.
