Best things happen when unplanned .. True to the core; 5 of us decided to meet at night & to go 'somewhere' for a 2 day trip. So, when we met, we decided on Kanatal - a place in Uttarakhand. For Kanatal we had to pass Dehradun & Mussoorie & then Dhanaulti. Since its rainy times in Mountains, it was all tip-tip throughout.
Route: Delhi---Dehradun---Mussoorie---Dhanaulti---Kanatal
It takes approximately 6 hours to reach Dehradun and then another 2 hours for Kanatal.
So, Kanatal is a scenic place with lush green mountains and breathtaking views. The only word you have is 'wow'.
But to be honest, would I travel there again?? Definitely Yes for the amazing Khichdi we ate at the Evergreen Family Restaurant just opposite Club Mahindra Resort. Apart from the scenic views, there is nothing much to do in Kanatal. Its more of a view point. But the nature just leaves a mark on you for sure. Ever since after, sitting in Delhi, I just have to close my eyes to feel that magic. I would recommend to move further & go towards Chopta, wherein you can trek & all. Although there are few camping options available in Dhanaulti & Kanatal which looks pretty amazing. Living with the clouds!!
In Dhanaulti there is this Swiss Resort which we booked through OYO. It was really nicely built but the food was not that great. Tea was superb.
So. To do a road trip kind of a thing. One can surely plan for Kanatal & spend your night there in between darkness & nature. It is for those who just want to have some time out from the hustles of life.
P.S: Good company makes every place happening.
It was a 2 days 3 nights trip (travelled to & fro to Delhi in nights) & cost 3000 INR per person after all that petrol, lovely stay, lots & lots of food & amazing cafe hopping!!
