I can tell from Delhi. If you're lucky, you may get a direct bus from Delhi to Sonprayagnat 9:30pm from ISBT Kashmere Gate. The bus will be ordinary and cost ₹850. After a long journey of 17-20 hrs, it will reach Sonprayag. Take a shared taxi to Gaurikund for ₹40, the starting point of trek and begin your journey. you can get rooms at Kedarnath for ₹500-1000. Mind you, please take a night rest at either Sonprayag or Gaurikund before starting early the next day as not doing so will wreck havoc on your body. And stay is cheap but food is very expensive on the way

Depends on where you live. I recommend start from Gujarat, go upwards to Rajasthan, Then the North, Northeast, Southeast, South, Southwest, and then cover the middle portion

Personally I have always liked Himachal Pradesh Tourism Corporation's Hotel. Have a look at the options they have in Manali. Their locations are also very good. Hotels are clean, with good food and courteous staff

If you are looking for a budget stay , you can lock homestay as they are fix on budgets or you can lock alpine ridge as it is a standard property.
if you are looking for premium or deluxe cases - then Khyber resort or hotel kolahoi is also there. if you are travelling solo , homestays are always the bestest choice as they give you home like feeling.
