Just In: Assam Enters Guinness World Record With the Largest Bihu Celebrations on April 13th,2023.

India is also known as the land of festivals, where we celebrate every festival with grandeur and fun. One such festival is Bihu celebrated in Assam marking the end of the harvesting season.

In a historical attempt, Assam celebrated Bihu at Guwahati's Sarusajai Stadium today, with more than 11,000 artists performing traditional Bihu Dance at a single venue, making an entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.

The mega event was part of the state celebrating Rongali or Bohag Bihu- marking the beginning of the Assamese New Year.

The record was created on April 13 at around 5.30 pm, earlier scheduled on April 14 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance.

However, it was decided that it would take place a day before to receive the certificate in the Prime Minister's presence. Mr Modi will be visiting the state to inaugurate a series of development projects.

The Mega Bihu event at the same stadium will be celebrated in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow.

CM Mr Sharma informed the media that the state was trying to target two world record attempts- one for the largest Bihu dance in a single frame and another for the largest (Dhuliya) Drummer ensemble.

While the performance was only 15 minutes long, performers were practising for this event for a long time, with auditions taking place across the state to bring in the best of the best for this mega event. Dibrugarh had the most representation, with over 1400 artists.

70% of the artists were women and 30% men, and included singers and those playing traditional instruments such as dhol, taal, gogona, toka, pepa and xutuli, he said.

Rs 25,000 each, will be given to all the Bihu dancers and Dhuliyas (Drummers) along with the master trainers who performed for the mega Bihu event for the Guinness World Record.iners who performed for the mega bihu event for the Guinness World Record.

As per reports, CM Sarma had expressed hope that the event would put Assam and its cultural heritage on the world map.
