The Attamala glass bridge is atop a mountain and between the tea plantations. The journey starts at the base of the hill. You need to take a jeep since it is about 1.8 kms offroad drive to reach the glass bridge. The total cost of the jeep is INR 600. The entrance ticket to the bridge is INR 200 per person, which is quite costly considering the jeep only travels about 4 kms up and down.
However, this is genuinely India's first digital glass bridge. And digital meaning at the center of the bridge below the glass, there are digital screens connected. The moment you step on the glass, the screens light up, giving you a feeling as if the glass beneath the bridge has cracked up, along with a sound coming from the micro speakers attached to the bridge. Thus, it is a unique feeling to experience this cracking up of the glass while walking on it.
The view from the end of the bridge is though mesmerizing. You can see the entire expanse of the lush green mountains covering three sides of your view. And below the bridge, when you see beneath your feet and the nearby surroundings, it is all filled with tea plantations. You can see the green carpet of the tea trees extending over a long distance, and the cool wind blowing over the bridge is fantastic.
However, it should be noted that it tends to get very hot in summer due to direct exposure to the sun. So, wearing a cap or some material that can reduce your direct exposure to the sun is recommended. The road then further up from the glass bridge goes to the Attamala viewpoint, which is situated some point above the bridge, giving a better view of the mountains. Thus, though the glass bridge and the surrounding viewpoints are unique, the jeep ride and the entry tickets are costly and can be a deal breaker for some people.
