With over 795 hopeful contenders from various corners of India vying for the coveted title, the competition was fierce. But in the end, one tiny village emerged victorious, snatching the crown from some of the most popular tourist destinations in the nation.

Introducing Kiriteshwari - the newest gem in India's tourism crown and the rightful winner of the Best Tourism Village Competition for the year 2023. Tucked away in the unassuming district of Murshidabad, West Bengal, this village caught the eye of the authorities with its charm, rich cultural heritage, and warm and welcoming residents.

Located just 18 kilometres from Murshidabad, Kiriteshwari Village is a hidden paradise for those seeking a break from the chaos of city life. Legend has it that this temple was built on the spot where the body parts of Goddess Sati fell. To this day, the temple remains a popular pilgrimage site for devotees from far and wide.

How to reach Kiriteshwari village?

Located in the Murshidabad district of West Bengal, Kiriteshwari village is situated just 5 kilometres away from the picturesque banks of Bhagirathi river and approximately 2 kilometres from Dahapara station on the Azimganj-Katwa railway line. It can also be reached through NH-34 which is at a distance of 9 kilometres from Palsandamore.

For those travelling by air, the nearest airport is at Kolkata which is approximately 195 kilometres away from Murshidabad. From there, one can easily avail of taxi services to reach Kiriteshwari village. The nearest railway station is in Murshidabad, which is well-connected to major cities in India like Howrah, Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. From the station, taxis are readily available to take you to Kiriteshwari village.
