This lockdown makes me wonder of all the beautiful places I would rather be at. And it also takes me back to the most mesmerizing place I have been to recently. Luckily for me, I had just visited one of my bucket list destination just before the lockdown - Maldives.

Maldives is all about sun, sea and sand. Located in the South Male Atoll, Anantara Veli is a Wonderland in itself. This resort, on a private island comprising of thatched bungalows is quite close to the public island, Maafushi. A 15 mins speedboat ride takes you into this luxurious part of Maldives. Perfect for honeymooning couples, this place guarantees a value for money experience.

The resort has all the facilities you will ask for. 8 open air restaurants, a beach front infinity pool, an Ayurvedic spa, a gym, a yoga pavilion and an on-site dive centre. You name it, they have it! But what makes this place so special is the nature trail. Surrounded by bungalows on the outer side facing the ocean, the inner side of the island has a wonderful nature trail. Just soaking the sun on the beach and then walking in the nature trail is the way of life on the resort.

To add the fun factor, there is a sister resort, Anantara Dhigu where you can reach by just hopping on to the ferry which operates every 10mins. There is another sister resort Naladhu which is connected with a footbridge which the access is restricted. Overall it is an wholesome experience.

The over water villa where we stayed had a large sundeck with a sunbed and a dining space with direct access to the ocean. The best part of this villa was, there was a small sandbank right in front of the room. The sandbank could be reached by walking in the ocean which was not very deep. The sunrise view from the deck was as fascinating as the sunset.

My experience at Anantara Veli was so majestic that I often wish to go back to that place someday!
