Anjuna is firstly the name of a village and is one of the places where the earliest Hindus came and settled down. There is also the church of St. Micheal over here which is another major attraction besides the flea market of Anjuna. Coming to the beach of Anjuna, this is not a very crowded beach but is still quite a popular one. The crowd is of mostly foreigners and so you can expect a different surrounding than you find in other beaches or the ones in Mumbai or South India. You can enjoy swimming as well as water sports here and it is also a perfect place for picnics and get togethers.
Curlies Beach Shack
One of the most popular and one of the best beach shacks in Goa, the Curlies Beach Shack is located near the flea market at the Anjuna Beach. People love to come here again and again and their best point is of course the ambience out here. They serve you with delicacies and some real good beverages and drinks. Another reason for the popularity of this place is that that this place hosts some of the best parties you will get to enjoy in Goa. This includes trance parties and electro parties which you hardly find so good in other places.
Shopping is an important part of your trip to Goa equally as the beaches are. The flea market or the Wednesday Market of Goa in the Anjuna region is one of the best souvenir markets here. Earlier here would only be found hippies smoking jumbo joints and trying to convince people to buy their stuffs and services which would in turn earn them money to help them during the rest of their stay.At present there is a lot more you will find here. Starting from Kashmiri and Tibetian clothes and show pieces to Gujarati tribal women selling t- shirts and home decor items and other tribal girls from Mumbai and Karnataka selling traditional stuff too. The remaining shops belong to backpackers from Europe and Russia and the others to the hippies. They mostly sell services such as massages, piercings, tattoo making and others.
On day 3, we went to Calangute and the beach was mesmerizing with clean waters and softest shore soils. And finally came the night, which was one to be relished throughout my life. Shiva Valley - the name defines it all... !! Man!! This was insane. People dancing madly to the trance and all on their own; everybody's with someone but nobody with none!! This is how one feels when they enter into the world of "Shiva Valley". The entry was free for ladies and foreigners but Indian men had to pay 500/- each.. I don't appreciate the discrimination, but understand the marketing benefit behind that. Anjuna - is one of the best beaches in Goa, its mystically magical and the waves are like dancing to some tunes of their own and just making you go crazy like never before. One can hear the amazing sounds of the waves hitting the shore from miles away. The beach is full of venders (mostly women) selling bun - omelettes and amazing lemon maggie (both for 50/- each) and chocolates and cigarettes and the stuffs for which Shiva Valley is famous for. It was the the best night of my life and its damn highly recommended and is a must must MUST TRY..!!
Stay: Hotel 16 Degree North, near Baga River, Baga. Pretty good hotel for the price. Good value for money. No use wasting money on hotels in North Goa, you hardly going to be in the room :-). If you love enjoying good hotels and resorts then head to South Goa for good relaxing trip. Day 1
The Funky Monkey Hostel
The planning started in September and it was decided that I'll be doing my 2nd backpacking in Goa, The first thing was to check the cheapest airfare , after waiting for a week I booked my tickets from yatra.com for 7200/- round trip from New Delhi to Goa. I took the evening flight from Delhi to Goa which departed at 6:40 pm and landed in Goa around 9:20 PM, If you are travelling on budget mode , try to take the morning flight and then take a bus from the airport to your hotel/hostel. I took a cab till my hostel, The Funky Monkey at the Anjuna. It costed me 1400/- . After reaching the Hostel, I checked in and without wasting any time I walked to famous Curlies cafe at the Anjuna beach which was merely 5 mins walk from the hostel. Oh boy! what a vibe, music, food , crowd , view, everything was just amazing. Spent few hours there and I came back to my hostel. That was day 1.Day 2.
Nyex Beach Club
Came here for the "Kingfisher presents Colorland" What a buzz, People were mostly colored in Red / Green/ Orange / Blue / Yellow So you can Imagine the Color of the Pool once they have all jumped in. I had a Grand time watching the moves for Bollywood Music, and Splashing of Colors around. I Did Chill out and enjoy every bit of this Moment. Nyex is also one of the Major happening Clubs in North Goa.
This is a game center very close to the Anjuna Beach in the village of Anjuna in Goa. Here you get to splash others with paintballs and hit them as much as you like. This fun arena is fit for all age groups except for infants. This is because they might get hurt. This experience is nothing short of a party on the beach stands of Goa.
No trip is complete without lazing around.Today was hotel changing day, I moved to other place(Bay Luxe) close to Anjuna. As I entered the place, I realized there was a pool infront of my room, that was it, it was time to get in water and relax. I opened the map and found a German Bakery at walking distance. This is the authentic German Bakery and the only one in Goa.If you are in an around Anjuna, you must not miss this place, grab a coffee, relax.
June Garden Bistro
It surprisingly has a very calm ambience unlike the other loud and over-the-top places of that area. The hosts are very hospitable, service and food were worth every penny. The unique decor of the place makes you want to sit there for long hours, relaxing, unwinding and chatting away.
