Marathahalli-Sarjapur Outer Ring Road

The Marathahalli-Sarjapur Outer Ring Road is a 62 kilometers long road which runs around the perimeter of Bangalore. The Marathahalli-Sarjapur Outer Ring Road was built by the Bangalore Development Authority and was opened between 1996 – 2002.This road is connected with all the important highways in the city like Old Madras Road, Bellary Road, Tumkur Road, Mysore Road, Bannerghatta Road, Kanakapura Road and many others. The main purpose behind the construction of this Outer Ring Road was to keep the heavy traffic out of the city. Three more ring roads are being built beyond the existing Ring Road to tackle the huge traffic estimations in the near future, the responsibility of the construction has been given to BDA and BMRDA. The new three ring roads will be named as Peripheral Ring Road which will run for a few kilometers behind BMIC-PRR, the second one Intermediate Ring and the third is Satellite Towns Ring.
