Malsi Deer Park / Dehradun Zoo is the only zoo in this city where you can spot deers and leopards with wide range of flora & fauna. Don't expect too much from this place if you love to see rare animals. This zoo has different areas like Aviary, Aquarium, Crocodile, Leopard & Adventure where you can start to walk from Aviary part and finish the round circle with Adventure. You can spend 1/2 - 1 hour easily walking around the premises but as I said, it's just a small zoo with nothing unique in it.
Malsi Deer Park is the only Zoo in Dehradun where you can spot a lot of barasingha deer, leopard, and other wide range of flora & fauna. This zoo is spread over an area of 25 hectares and can be located on your way to Mussorie. The park is recently renovated so if you have visited the place earlier, I bet you will find a complete change to your next visit with a proper drinking water & sanitation facilities.The zoo authorities don't allow the outside food & snack in the park. A large canteen is available outside where you can fulfill your small hunger needs. Explore Wildlife, Nature, Exotic Views. Enjoy swings & child rides. Tickets: 20 Rs per adult & 10 Rs per child below 5 years. Open all days except Monday (10 am to 6 pm). Situated at Mussouri Road before DIT at a distance of 10 kms from Clock Tower, Dehradun. Tip: Don't carry any food items with you before entering since they are strictly not allowed.
2. Picnic amidst animals: One of the famous picnic spots for adults and children is the Malsi Deer Park. This zoological park conserves the natural environment of the Himalayas. A stroll around the entire place will lead you to a variety of deer – spotted, double-horned, wood-owls, peacocks, Neel-Gai or the Indian antelope, birds, rabbits and more. Interact with them, click pictures and unwind at the green-stretch over a basket of goodies and refreshments from the tuck-shops. Besides these, there is a play-area for kids with slides, swings and see-saws.
