Darjeeling is a town and a region in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is situated in the Mahabharat Range or Lesser Himalayas at a height of 6,700 ft. It is noted for its tea industry and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Darjeeling is the central station of Darjeeling district which has a partially independent status inside of the state of West Bengal. Extensive tea ranches were set up in the district, and tea producers created hybrids of black tea and made new fermentation methods. The resultant unmistakable Darjeeling tea is globally perceived and positions among the most mainstream of the black teas. Darjeeling has a few British-style state funded schools which are another attraction in Darjeeling as students from all over the country come to enroll in these British style schools. Darjeeling has a calm atmosphere with wet summers brought on by monsoon downpours.
