Darcha

This is a very small village on the Bhaga River in the Lahaul Region of the Lahaul- Spiti District. It is simply a lonely and remote village with a population of about 300 and basic living facilities. There are small huts and also tented accomodations here. The good part is that they have education facilities till 10+2 level and also health care facilities. Other than telephone connections are also available. The buses covering the Leh- Manali Route often stop here for the night and stay up in tents. This gives the villagers a scope to travel from here to the other parts of Himachal Pradesh easily. This is also the northernmost permanent settlemet in Himachal Pradesh and the end- point of the Padum- Zanskar trek route as well.
