Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden, also called Junagadh Zoo, is located in Junagadh district of Gujarat. It was opened in the year 1863 and is among the oldest zoological gardens of India. It is sprawled across an area of 490 acres. The endangered Asiatic Lions are found in this zoo. It is the fourth largest zoo in the country. Sakkarbaug Zoo is well-connected via road. Junagadh Junction is the closest railway station to the zoo. Keshod Airport is at a distance of 42 km from the zoo. Sakkarbaug Zoological Garden also includes other species of animals like panthers, antelopes, Black Bucks, Blue Bulls, etc. It also has an aquarium where different species of fishes are kept. The management committee of the zoo has furnished a museum which consists of Persian and Sanskrit inscriptions, ancient coins, artefact furniture and other antique masterpieces.
