If Mumbai is the commercial cinema capital of india, Kolkata is the place for art- films. Ace film makers such as Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen, Ritwick Ghatak were the people who are the heroes in the Cinema Revolution of Bengal. The later makers such as Rituporno Ghosh, Aparna Sen, Suman ghosh, Srijit Mukerji and others have carried on the legacy like none better. Now, Nandan in Kolkata is a modern cinema complex famous amongst Bengali film lovers, managed and supervised by the State Governement. It shares its boundaries with the Rabindra Sadan and was inaugrated by the legendary Satyajit Ray, who also designed the logo here. Not only is this a place for watching movies but it is also a famous hangout spot for all ages. The Annual Bengali Film Festival also takes place in the Nandan Complex. Regular cultural shows and movie premieres are also organized here.
