Sulthan Battery Ferry Line

This is a quiet place with the remains of a Fort and a Jain Temple which is also almost in ruins. This fort once belonged to the powerful Tipu Sultan on top of which you will still find a canon fixed and it is just on the banks of the river. This is from where the name Sulthan Bathery or Sulthan Battery originated. You can also boat across the river and reach the forests on the other side. Here people are very rustic and their main occupation is practising Ayurveda. They are very humble people and would tell you all about their work. You can also get some pure honey and medicinal herbs from the forest here.

Ferry rides are one of my favourite parts of traveling in Goa and coastal Karnataka.
