Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple Complex

Mathura was where Lord Krishna was born thousands of years ago. The Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple is built right in the heart of the very populated city of Mathura. The neighbouring towns of here are Vrindavan and Govardhan. The Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple is the prime attraction of Mathura and is built around a stone walled cell inside which the monstrous King Kamsa had imprisoned Devaki and Basudeb to whom Krishna was born. This cell is now the garba griha or the innermost temple and the whole place which was once a horrible prison was beautified to form this lovely temple. The temple is red in colour and has a number of engravings on the walls and beautiful carvings done here. This place is an important place of pilgrimage by the Hindus.
