Mumbai - Pune Expressway

This is officially known as the Yashwantrao Chavan Mumbai Pune Expressway and is India's first six lane concrete, access controlled, high speed toll accessway. This has replaced the Mumbai- Chennai NH 4 expressway and now connects the administrative capital of Maharshtra, Mumbai to the Financial Capital Pune. There are also 5 tunnels along this stretch. This ex[pressway has reduced travel time between the two cities by almost 2 hours and is one of the most popular expressways of the country.

Continuing our road-trip from Lonavla, we reached Mahabaleshwar around 9 PM. The ride was scenic on either side & one could relate as to why the NH48 is deemed scenic and smooth. Our booking was at: Hotel Sai Yash, Main Market Adurjee Road
Less traffic, smooth highway and loud music set our mood for the journey. I was amazed to see so many tourists thronging the highway at night even on weekdays.

# Mumbai Pune expressway: This is also India's first six lane expressway. Riding in between the greenery and low level mountains . The expressway gets beautiful during Monsoon as its greener and overcast. No one should miss this ride if you are near Mumbai or Pune.

Day 10, 1-ish pm - We drive through the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and reach the outskirts of Pune. From there, we took the highway towards Hyderabad. Unfortunately, we hit a bad stretch of road (again!), so our journey was slower than we expected.

If you love to drive and wanna get a hangover coz of driving. drive through Mumbai Pune expressway. If driving towards Lonavala you'll have to pay Rs.117 for toll, 35 at Vashi toll and so on. It's like driving on butter, so smooth, but be careful while driving, over speed may lead to accidents. Apart from this, the scenic beauty was awesome. Hills, greenery and waterfalls..... awesome. take a long drive on it, you'll love it. In short, just the place who loves to drive.
