Nagaraja Temple

Once a famous Tamil Poet named Avaiyyar and a devotee of Murugan came down to Madurai as their knowledge was tested by Lord Murugan in the disguise of a small boy. The temple now situated in Madurai has a tree and the incident which took place according the legend also took place under the same tree. The tree is still worshipped as this is where the Lord Murugan appeared with his two consorts Valli and Devaiyani. The three of them have since been the symbols of action, want and knowledge. People till date come here to seek blessings of the Lord and the Goddesses who can bless them for marriage, babies and academics.
