Pokhara is famous for wonderful views of the Himalayas and its snow-fed lakes. Pokhara’s bewitching beauty has been the subject of many travel writers. Its pristine air, spectacular backdrop of snowy peaks, serene lakes and surrounding greenery make it ‘the jewel in the Himalaya’, a place of remarkable natural beauty. With the magnificent Annapurna range forming the backdrop and the serenity of three major lakes – Phewa, Rupa and Begnas – Pokhara is the ultimate destination for relaxation. Pokhara Valley, gateway to the Annapurna region where many a trekker finds his Shangri-la, sits high on the list of ‘must visit’ places in Nepal.
Paragliding is one of the must-do activities in Nepal, especially while at Pokhara. Paragliding in Nepal provides high adrenaline fun with the stunning view of the Himalayan range. The activity can be undertaken solely if a professional license holder and with a professional partner in a tandem flight for other normal travelers. We offer several Paragliding packages as per the guest's interest such as Cloud Buster, Cross Country, Acrobatic Flying, etc. Also, Parahawking, a term referred to as Paragliding along with the trained birds of prey such as hawks and vultures, is a special experience to be had.
Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
The inside of the cave is slippery and you must mind your steps. In the tourist season a rush is not unexpected. However the walk is worth taking since at the end you get to see the amazing view of daylight streaming in through an elongated natural crack which is the other side of a waterfall!
The Buddhist stupa of Boudhanath dominates the skyline. The ancient Stupa is one of the largest in the world. The influx of large populations of refugees from Tibet has seen the construction of over 50 Tibetan Gompas (Monasteries) around Boudhanath. As of 1979, Boudhanath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along with Swayambhunath, it is one of the most popular tourist sites in the Kathmandu area.
Tashiling Tibetan settlement
Pokhara is home to four Tibetan Refugee Settlements. Tashiling in the south and Tashi Palkheil (near the Devi's Fall) in the north of Pokhara valley are inhabited by residents who earn a living by producing and trading in Tibetan carpets and other handicrafts. Jampaling and Paljorling are two settlements established for the rehabilitation of people from the Mustang guerrilla force.
International Mountain Museum
Later in afternoon, visit the International Mountain Museum and Tibetan Refugee Settlement. The International Mountain Museum (IMM) was established with the theme 'Man, Mountain and Mountain activities around the world'.
