Shantadurga Temple Kavlem Ponda Goa

Located at the foothill of Kavalem village in Ponda Taluka administrative, Shantadurga Temple Goa is a beautiful temple that belongs to Goud Saraswat Brahmin community. It is situated a distance of 30 km from Panaji. The current temple dates back to 1713 AD, and its construction was commenced by Naroram Rege Mantri. Shree Shantadurga, the presiding deity of the temple, is considered to be the family deity of many families belonging to the community. Many mythological stories are associated with the deity leading to the strong faith of the people. The original temple The original temple existed at Quelossim, After the invasion and the destruction of Portuguese, Shanta Durga temple was established in Kavalem. Its beautiful structure consists of Roman-arched windows and pyramidal-shaped 'shikaras'. A guest house exists on the temple premises for the devotees. Magha Shuddha Panchmi (Jatrautsav) and Navaratri are among the major festivals celebrated at Shantadurga Temple Goa.
