The largest brackish water lagoon of Asia, the Chilika Lake is an awesome place to visit when you are in Odisha. It stretches from Bhusandpur in the Puri District till the Ganjan District and comprises of a beautiful wetland. There are a number of islands here and these are places till where you can enjoy boating and also spend a peaceful and exotic weekend on one of these. The islands include the Nalabana, Kalijal, Honeymoon, Breakfast, Somolo and Rajahansa. The wetland is also a bird- watcher's heaven where thousands of migratory birds, especially flamingoes come here and are a visual treat completely. The Kalijai Temple on the Kalijal island is a popular attraction here where the Goddess Kalijai is worshipped. She is a local deity and Makar Sankranti is celebrated here with great pomp.

The relaxed and calm atmosphere of the beach is soothing during a vacation and the sand art displayed especially by internationally acclaimed Sudarshan Pattanaik are a visual treat. There are also a number of shacks here selling fast food and other small items here and there. For a quieter experience you should move towards the eastern end of the beach and just sit there and watch the fishermen at work. High tides are a common trait of this beah so be careful to follow the rules guided to you.

Located in the eastern coast of India, the Jagannath Temple is a very famous sacred Hindu temple in India which is dedicated to God Jagannath. Unlike all other temples, the idol in this temple is made of wood which is replaced every 10 to 20 years with an exact replica carved on the wood of a holy tree. The temple covers an area of 40,000 sq ft. The walls surrounding the temple are 20 feet tall and are known as Meghananda Pacheri. The temple contains four entrances and is one of the most magnificient monuments in India. The Jagannath temple is also the tallest temple in Odisha. The top of the temple is called Srichakra-Eight spoked wheel of Vishnu. The Rath Yatra stands as a very important festival in this temple. The temple consists of three sacred deities - Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. Entry inside the temple is very selective, Non-Indian descent, who are practicing Hindus are not allowed inside the temple.

This is a village hidden amidst palm and betel vines, where artists can make you get lost in the charm of their art. So our day began with 'EARLY MORNING STROLL' on "GOLDEN BEACH"!!! Puri is blessed with 'Sun Kissed Beaches'; which are beautiful, peaceful, less crowded and ultra clean. We spent almost 2-3 hrs there. After Breakfast we headed for Jagannath Temple, only 15 mins from our hotel. One can easily get a auto or rickshaw.Funny Tale- Whole time Dad was trying to avoid water on Beach, not letting his "NEW SPORTS SHOE" get wet but haha!!! Suppose even Golden Beach wanted him to have some fun; huge tide washed him completely, that was just awesomeeeeee :)

From there; we drove to the “Puri-Sea Beach” which is 3 kms away from Puri. As I reached there; I was in awe of the beach. For few minutes; I only gazed at the waves. Whenever I get time to sneek out for solo travels; I seek to be in the mountains or waters. I'm glad this time; I was with the waters :)
