I guess "what is your purpose" and "what do you believe in to?" are two sides of the same coin. I think one thing that would help make this a less vague question would be to figure out who you are. Of course, this isn't something you can do quickly, but it's worth spending time on. If you don't know who you are, how will you know what your purpose is? It's true that we spend our youths trying to figure out who we are, and then most of us spend the rest of our lives defending that identity. But you have to have an identity before you can find a purpose. If your identity is "someone who doesn't know who she is or what she wants", finding a purpose will be difficult. The reason I focus so much on skills like empathy, honesty and self-awareness is because they're vital in helping us discover our identities. Without them, we're likely to take the identity that others give us rather than discovering (or creating) our own.
