Jaisalmer fort is one of the oldest fort situated in Jaisalmer. Many people still reside in the fort and sells local products. It is known for some epic architecture and breathtaking views.

You can get a cab directly to this place and cabs are available in abundance in Jaisalmer.

We were told by the guide that this is the second "living fort" in Rajasthan. The first happens to be Chittorgarh fort (near Udaipur).
The approach to the fort is congested. The bikes and rickshaws having a go at your ear drums on the narrow passage ways right into the fort is really annoying.
We reached the fort and took the guide directly which is a must in case you want to know the history of the place.
The Jaisalmer fort is an excellent fort, very nicely built and a good historic place. Can see each and every area of Jaisalmer when we go on top of this fort. Mainly known for Jain Temple.
The art work plus unusual structures like concealed lockers etc are worth going through in detail.
The view of the city and the Lake from the view point near the cannon is breathtaking.
The fort is deteriorating due to the population and large number of tourists living within.
There is no entry fee to the fort. Need to spend 3 hours here.
