A historic place with an urban touch! Jaipur is a must visit for every person who likes to have the traditional "khari"(an Indian snack) with his/her espresso! Boasting of its rich heritage ,Jaipur is a must place to visit.Here is my take on why should you visit the Pink city :
1.Feed the pigeons.
You can go Amrish Puri from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, like literally. A lot of pigeons reside in almost all prime locations of Jaipur , be it Amer fort or the City palace. You can buy the bird food from there only for as low as INR 10 and feed the birds. So, bring out the actor in you and go "AAo, AAO"
2.The pink city
Because the city is actually pink.One area of the city spanning the City palace, Jantar Mantar is literally painted pink in colour . And all the shops / hoardings are in Hindi . You actually get the feels of living in the pink city when you visit that area.
3. The rich history .
Jaipur gets its name from the king Jai Singh who was a renowned for his knowledge and inclination towards astronomy. The beautiful Jantar Mantar which was built in his regime is definitely a place to visit.
4. Magnificent forts
Jaipur is a proud owner of forts such as Amer , Jaigarh and Nahargarh. ThThe gigantic Amer fort is so beautiful and well maintained . It is definitely one of the biggest attractions of the city .The light and music show in the evening is a spectacular event to not miss.
Also this city has the largest cannon of India in the Jaigarh fort .
5.Food
Talking about Rajasthan and how can we miss the food. Every eatery in every nook and corner of the city is yum. There are no specific places to mention but Choki Dhani , Rawat ki onion kachori ,etc do stand out.
6.Shopping
100 gram ki razai(quilt),animals carved out of wood, bandhani print clothes, some of the best decoration items, juttis, jhumkas, you name it and Jaipur has it . Although you would have to bargain in the local Market such as Bapu bazar, but its worth it.
7.People
Want the reason why is Jaipur so famous among travellers? It is because of its people. So warm hearted and helpful. The residents of this city treat its visitors with utmost respect , be it and Indian or a foreign national.
