On Friday, the United States government announced that it will drop the requirement for international air travellers to take a pre-boarding Covid-19 test requirements. Although as per the initial mandate, those who were fully vaccinated could show a negative test within three days of travel. While those who where unvaccinated had to present a test taken within one day of travel.

With all this being revoked by the White House assistant press secretary Kevin Munoz on Twitter, he stated,

“US will end Covid-19 testing requirement for air travelers entering the country. @CDCgov ⁩will evaluate its need based on the science and in context of circulating variants. @POTUS work on effective vaccines and treatments critical to this."

Munoz further informed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has determined that it's no longer necessary for passengers to do a pre-departure Covid-19 test to enter USA. Although, this requirement will be re-evaluated by the agency for the testing requirement every 90 day, in case there is an emergence of a troubling new variant emerges.

This testing requirement was put in place by the Biden administration last year, as it moved away from restrictions that banned nonessential travel from a dozen countries — most of Europe, China, Brazil, South Africa, India and Iran.

American Airlines Chief Executive Robert Isom also expressed last week at a conference that the testing requirements were "nonsensical" and were "depressing" leisure and business travel. Isom said 75% of countries that America serves do not have testing requirements.
