Popular for being a ski resort where skiing and snowboarding can be enjoyed during winters, Auli is also visited in the summer for a majestic 180-degree view of the second highest peak in India, Nanda Devi, and the snowy Himalayas.
During summers, the ski slopes turn to picturesque meadows for mesmerising walks. One can choose to do some sightseeing on Asia's longest cable car or rope way. A picturesque spot that takes the cake here is the crystalline Chenab Lake, which can be reached through a treacherous trek to Dang village. The pilgrimage to Badrinath temple is another renowned trek. There aren't any places to shop out here but one can always go downhill to Joshimath to purchase all sorts of woollen apparel. No fancy places to eat though, the little joints spread around this charming snowscape serve delicious Garhwali dishes as well as usual Indian fare.
