About Rudraprayag

This is a town and municipality in the rudraprayag District in the state of Uttarakhand in India. It is considered as a very holy town and also one of the 'Panch Prayag' or a confluence of the River Alakananda. This is where the rivers of Alakananda, Mandakini and Kedarnath meet. The famous poet and naturalist, Jim Corbett once wrote an account about the 'man- eating leopard' which was found in the Rudraprayag region. Much of this beautiful place was damaged due to the earthquake which occured in the year 2013 and especially the bridge over the River Mandakini leading to the Kedarnath Temple was severely damaged. The brand new town which was rebuilt is an even prettier picture now. The main places of tourist interest in Rudraprayag include Rudranath Temple, Chamunda Devi Temple, Koteshwar Temple, Shri Tungeshwar Mahadev ji Temple, the Kartik Swamy Temple and the Kedareshwar Temple. This is also one of the most popular and also one of the toughest pilgrimages for the Hindus.
